HKUST Joins China Hi-Tech Fair 2000 |

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will display its recent technological achievements at the second annual China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), to be held in Shenzhen from 11 to 17 October. This is the second time the University has participated in the Fair with top mainland universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
The CHTF is the largest international technology fair on the Chinese Mainland. It is held annually in autumn in Shenzhen. Last year, the first CHTF attracted more than 300,000 visitors and made a total revenue of US$ 6.5 billion. The centerpiece of HKUST's exhibits will be the University's success in translating research achievements into commercial products. Eight hi-tech start-ups under the University's Entrepreneurship Center will showcase their new products to visitors and potential investors. These products include a demand control ventilation system, a motion control system, an Intelligent Personalized Marketing Server, the world's first standalone digital jukebox, new materials in transport, a TCM web site, a 3D garment simulation system as well as input and search methods on the Internet. In addition to hi-tech products, the University will also exhibit its innovations in biotechnology, liquid crystal display, transportation logistics, automation, construction materials and other forefront areas of research. The CHTF is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information Industry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. Other exhibitors include trade delegations, private enterprises, investors and research institutes.
