HK CAS Alumni Establish Scholarly Association |

The Hong Kong Alumni Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (HKAACAS) will be inaugurated on 20 April 1998 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Prof LU Yongxiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Mr LUI Che Woo, President of the China Association (Hong Kong) for Science and Society, will address the assembly. HKAACAS is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit scholarly organization. Its aim is to promote social activities and scholarly exchanges among its members. It also seeks to strengthen ties between its members and CAS, which has pledged its full support. The Association membership consists of persons residing in Hong Kong who have present or past ties with CAS, including faculty, staff, students, and persons with honorary and advisory roles. There are currently over 70 members. Prof Chia-Wei WOO, President of HKUST, has been elected the founding president of HKAACAS. Prof Yau Kai CHEUNG of the University of Hong Kong and Prof Kenneth YOUNG of the Chinese University of Hong Kong serve as vice presidents.
