Overview

It is the policy of the HKUST to provide for the protection of its personnel, attending students, visitors, facilities and surrounding environment through the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety and environmental protection program.

The Dept of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering shares this same commitment with the University. All faculty, staff and students in the department share the responsibility for protecting from injury those working in the department and others who may be exposed to hazards as a result of our activities.

All activities in this department must be conducted in a manner that will ensure both the continued health and safety of its employees and students as well as compliance with the relevant University and statutory regulations. Every individual must know the potential hazards associated with their duties and follow all relevant safety practices and procedures. No job or course of study in this department is so important and no request so urgent that it cannot be done in a safe manner and in compliance with the appropriate health and safety requirements.

Faculty, management staff and supervisors are responsible for demonstrating leadership in developing proper attitudes towards health and safety, and making the necessary efforts to conduct activities safely and in accordance with the appropriate health and safety regulations.
