Knowing the Cause, Knowing the Right Solution

Dr Ming Fang
Director, Institute for Environment and Sustainable Development, HKUST

The number one air pollution problem in China is sulfur dioxide emitted from burning of fuels. At present, the cost for reduction of this pollutant is excessively high. Dr Ming FANG has invented an efficient and affordable process system which is capable of removing sulfur dioxdie and nitrogen oxides simultaneously. This novel system promises wide industrial applications.

Dr Ming FANG is the Director of Institute for Environment and Sustainable Development at HKUST. He has more than 12 years of R&D experience with major US energy and technology companies. At HKUST, he is the project manager of several large-scale research programs concerning air pollution source, abatement techniques, and monitoring. Dr Fang received his PhD from the University of Illinois.
