Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS)
The Chinese font comes with Windows 2000 does not include all localised Chinese characters. However, you can get full support on Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set by installing the HKSCS Support for Windows Platform. Click here for installation procedure.
Document interchangeability
Most Chinese documents can be interchange on Windows 95 / 98 / NT and Windows 2000. However, some Chinese characters in the Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set may cause problem. You are recommended to retype the problematic Chinese characters of the document in the target platform.
Font availability
By default, there is only 1 Chinese font available on Windows 2000. If you need to use other Chinese fonts, you can buy it from DynaLab.
Chinese input method
By default, Windows 2000 provides Changjie, New Changjie, Phonetic, New Phonetic and some rarely used Chinese input methods. While Cantonese Pinyin is not available, you can have Hanyu Pinyin by a trick. You are required to use Changjie instead of New Changjie, and New Phonetic instead of Phonetic, in order to use HKSCS.
Compatibility improvement
You can improve the compatibility of a Chinese application by setting the default system locale to Chinese.
