HKUST staff living in the Senior Staff Quarters can enjoy Internet connection with their home computer with our Quarters Internet Connection services.
The objective of this service is to enable staff members living in the Senior Staff Quarters to be able to connect to the Internet for Internet web surfing, email accessing, in a fast and effective way.
HKUST staff member occupying a quarter is eligibel to use the Internet Connection for Senior Staff Quarter service. The following equipment is needed for connection to the service:The provision of this service is binded by the Terms and Conditions of Internet Connection for Senior Staff Quarters .
- A computer with ethernet network interface and operating system (eg: Windows XP/Vista/7, MacOS).
- A cat5e UTP network cable of adequate length. This is for connecting the computer to the network socket on the wall.
No registration is required.
For most modern new computers, all configuration steps should have been pre-installed by the computer manufacturer. Simply connecting your computer's ethernet network port to the wall network socket with the UTP network cable and the Internet connection should be ready for use.
ITSC is committed to provide stable networking connectivity to Senior Staff Quarters. In case of networking problem, please report them by submitting a CCHELP (Computer Problem Report).Please be reminded that for problems or faults on the computer itself, one should approach the vendor/supplier directly for assistance.
In case if necessary, special assistance can be arranged with some experienced student helpers for helping with your computer problem on site in the staff quarters. Please be reminded these arrangements may incurred an hourly rates for the student helpers. Please feel free to contact ITSC helpdesk for these arrangements.
