Steps to setup HKUST LDAP Service with Outlook 2000/ Outlook Express

The setup below applies to machines within campus, please note that Direct LDAP access from outside campus is blocked:

1. Start Outlook Express, select Accounts... from the Tools menu.
2. Press the Add button and then select Directory Service
3. In the Internet directory (LDAP) server input box, enter ldap.ust.hk. Press Next
4. Select Yes in the option "Do you want to check addresses using this directory service?". Press Next, and then Finish
5. Select Properties of the newly added ldap.ust.hk directory services
6. In the Directory Service Account, replace ldap.ust.hk by HKUST LDAP Server, keep the Server Name in the Server Information section unchanged.


7. Click the Advance tab. There's an input box called Search base. Fill in ou=people, o=ust.hk


8. Click OK and then click Close. Now you have setup the Outlook Express to lookup HKUST LDAP Server.
