The Information Technology Services Center (ITSC) develops and manages the computing and networking infrastructure of the University, as well as managing the University's PABX telephone system. ITSC provides computing support to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research applications in all schools. It also serves the University's administrative needs by providing an integrated information system to support day-to-day routines, as well as to satisfy the need for information in management decision making.
HKUST's network is a gateway that serves the entire University. ITSC says: "Let the Net Work for You!", and from the outset planned a high-speed, reliable network, well-able to cope with current needs. It also wanted this network to be expandable, and able to exploit tomorrow's sophisticated technology.
