Naming Scheme
HKUST Lifelong Email Forwarding Address comprises of an Email alias and a Destination email address. The Email alias is a lifelong email address for presenting to outside correspondents, whereas the Destination email address is the email forwarding address.The naming scheme for this lifelong Email alias is:
xxxxx.<surname>@family.ust.hk
where "xxxxx" has a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters and can be anything that reasonably identifies you to others. Users can define this part, subject to a set of syntactic rules as well as the first-come-first-serve principle in case of name clashes. However, this Email alias cannot be changed anymore once applied. Users are advised to be cautious and think thoroughly when choosing the name of this lifelong Email alias.
The Destination email address can be specified by users through a web interface. Email messages sent to the lifelong Email alias would be redirected to the specified Destination email address e.g. @gmail, @yahoo, etc.
