Problem
By setting the access control in the Network Control Panel to user-level
access and specify a NT domain as the authentication host, you can add
user permission to your shared resources on Win9x by selecting from the
user list of the specified NT domain.
However, when you try to add new user to the permission list of a selected
resource, you receive the following error message:
"You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later."
Resolution
There are several causes to the above symptom.
- Not Logged on or Logon Not Successful
Make sure you have logged on to the specified domain and no error
message appeared during logon. The domain you logon can be read from
the logon dialog box.
- Wrong MAPI32.DLL
Verify the MAPI32.DLL in the Windows system directory is correct:
- Click on Start button. Point to Find.
Click on Files and Folders ....
- Enter MAPI32.DLL into
the Named dialog box.
- Enter your Windows system directory,e.g.
C:\Windows\system, into the Look
in dialog box. If you are not sure the exact path, try to
enter C:\.
- Click on Find Now to start search.
- Right-click on the found file and click on Properties.
- Click on Version tab. The description
field shall read:
Extended MAPI 1.0 for Windows 95
- If yours is different, backup your existing MAPI32.DLL and extract
the correct one from the Windows CD or setup files.
- Incorrect Dependent Files
Backup the following systems files in the Windows
system directory, e.g. C:\Windows\system,
and copy the original files from the Windows CD or setup files:
- RPCLTC1.DLL
- MSAB32.DLL
- COMDLG32.DLL
- VLB32.DLL
- MSVCRT20.DLL
- CHOOSUSR.DLL
