Notebook Ownership Verification &
Upfront Deposit Refund Arrangement

For those who had bought a HP notebook computer with upfront deposit payment in the "HKUST Notebook / Desktop Ownership Program 2009", please take note of the following arrangement on notebook ownership verification and refund of upfront deposit payment upon successful ownership verification.

Notebook Ownership Verification

To demonstrate that you are still keeping your notebook computer and have not resold it for profits, you can opt for EITHER ONE of the following verification means:

(1) On-site Verification

You can pick a date within the specified periods and bring along your purchased notebook computer with (a) your invoice, and (b) your personal identity proof (HKID card or Passport) to HKUST for on-site verification by HP:

    Period:     (a)    Nov 26-28, 2009
                    (b)    Dec 17-19, 2009
    Time:        11am - 9pm (Thu - Sat)
    Venue:      G/F Lobby, Indoor Sports Complex, HKUST

Remarks: For those who would like to do on-site verification, but cannot come in person, please prepare an authorization letter [sample] and a copy of your personal identity proof (HKID card or Passport) and pass them to your authorized pick-up person.

(2) E-mail Verification

You can submit your verification proof through e-mail from Nov 23 to Dec 14, 2009 with the following information in the e-mail :

  1. Your Name  (same as your personal identity proof)
  2. Order Number  (e.g. LUT0903708)
  3. Photo Attachment - a digital photo showing clearly the serial number at the bottom of your purchased notebook computer, *AND* with a ballpen aside the serial number label [sample]

Please send your e-mail to the following mailbox with your Order Number and your Name stated clearly in the "Subject" field: [sample]

Helix System Limited will scan through mails in this mailbox and does the ownership verification check. An acknowledgement e-mail will be sent to your mail account in two scheduled periods - Nov 23-25 and Dec 14-16 once your verification is processed. In case you cannot receive the acknowledgement e-mail in the applicable period, please call Helix System Limited hotline at 8208 8991 (Office hours: Mon-Fri 10am-6pm) for assistance.


Refund of Upfront Deposit Payment (upon successful verification)

Upfront deposit payment will be refunded via personal cheque issued by HP. Refund cheque pick-up counter will be set up in 2 different periods as shown below:

    Venue:      G/F Lobby, Indoor Sports Complex, HKUST

For users opting for e-mail verification, please make sure your e-mail submission is sent in at least 2 working days prior to your corresponding earliest pick-up period as shown above. Please bring along your acknowledgement e-mail along with your personal identity proof (HKID card or Passport) to HKUST during the applicable period(s) to pick up the refund cheque. 

Remarks: For those who cannot pick up the cheque in person, please prepare an authorization letter [sample] and a copy of your personal identity proof (HKID card or Passport) and pass them to your authorized pick-up person.
