Timeline Application Procedures

RGC Application Deadline
Fellowship applicants should submit an initial application via RGC System to obtain a reference number for subsequent Fellowship application to the selected institution(s). This is an important first step.

HKUST Application Deadline
Quoting the HKPFS reference number obtained from RGC, Fellowship applicants interested in HKUST programs have to submit their application through the HKUST Admissions System. To complete the HKPFS application, applicants should have submitted to HKUST the following:
i)
Online payment of their application fee (HK$180) per program.
ii)
Uploaded scanned copies of academic credentials1 and provided names and contact details of two referees2.

[N.B. If items (i & ii) above are not received by 6 December 2011, the Fellowship application will be disqualified.]
December 2011/
January 2012
Short-listed candidates will be invited for an admissions interview.
January/
February 2012
RGC Fellowship Secretariat will review nominations submitted by HK institutions.

[N.B. Fellowship applicants may receive admission offers of regular PhD program directly from HKUST before Fellowship results are released.]
Early March 2012
RGC Fellowship Secretariat will notify successful candidates of the Fellowship Scheme results via email3.
Late March 2012
RGC Fellowship Secretariat will publicize the list of fellowship awardees on the RGC website.


Notes:

1.
Once an offer is made, within 4 weeks official certified true copies* of academic credentials have to be submitted to HKUST for verification.
* ”Official certified true copies” include but not limited to:
- copies officially imprinted, signed and certified by the issuing authority concerned; or
- copies of the original documents that have been duly declared as true copies before a notary public (for example a Commissioner of Oaths at any local District Office in Hong Kong)

2.
The HKUST Admissions System will directly invite referees to complete and return Referee’s Reports to HKUST by email.

3.
Candidates who are not selected for the Fellowship Award may be considered for admission to the relevant PhD program(s) by the University.
