Welcome to HKUST!
We are sure that you have read a lot about the department in which you
have enrolled, the programmes of the school, and the University itself,
before you made up your mind to join us. Therefore, we are not going to
elaborate on them. But in case you need further information, the following
publications may help:
Introducing HKUST, (published by the Office of University
Development and Public Affairs) and other introductory leaflets for
visitors to campus.

The 2007-2008 Academic Calendar is one of the most comprehensive
and important references in relation to admission of students, academic
regulations, programmes offered, academic, student and support services
on campus, staff list, and many other related topics. The "Important
Dates in the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 Academic Years" is a piece of information
which you may refer to often since it tells you when to register for
courses, when to add/drop and when to have exam, etc. The Calendar is
prepared by the Office of Academic Programme Administration and updated
annually. You can browse it online. Do get yourself acquainted with
some of the academic regulations e.g. grading policies,
medium of instruction, and course evaluation, which are closely related
to your work as TA. Also, consult your lecturer on these issues before
you start teaching.

A Guide to Campus Life
This campus guide provides general information on amenities and facilities
for all students. The information is organized under the headings of:
- Daily necessities, e.g. transport, housing facilities, catering
services, etc.
- Problem Solving and Assistance, e.g. financial assistance, health
service, counselling service, etc.
- Student activities, e.g. club and societies information, sports
and recreational facilities, etc.
There is a section titled General Information which tells
students what to do in case of fire, lost and found
property, accident, robbery, typhoon or rainstorm. The
enclosed telephone list is of great help, in case of
need.
