Traditional Chinese Medicines How CCPP Helps the Modernization of TCMs
We
at the CCPP are dedicated to the development of manufacturing
processes for the proprietary Chinese medicines through advanced
pharmaceutical technologies and scaling up engineering. This is by no
means the modernization of Chinese medicines which CCPP recognizes as
the only way out for the traditional Chinese medicines to turn
into high value-added proprietary medicines and
conquer its long lost commercial territories
in the international arena.
CCPP
emphasizes its strength in presenting a "One-Stop Shop" platform for its Chinese medicines’ members. All the GXPs so
essential to make a product GOOD can be implemented and monitored by
our strategic partners in the field.
Good
quality raw Chinese medicines materials assured by GAP (Good
Agricultural Practices) can maintain quality and consistency while
cutting cost in doing so further down in the production line. GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and GCP (Good Clinical Practices) work hand-in-hand to guarantee the claimed efficacy of a CMs product, including its formulation, the QC & QA (Quality Control/Assurance), the bioequivalence and bioavailability, its dosage form, the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the known ingredients, etc. Once the newly researched product is proved effective, it must be subjected to a more stringent scrutiny of manufacturing processes before it is ready to be scaled up for production. This strategic planning involves detailed design and optimization of extraction technologies, concentration, formulation (crystallization, granulation, coating, etc..) and packaging. Other essential support systems, such as air quality system, water purification system, waste treatment system, power supply system and management system are all so important to guarantee the consistency and economy of the final product. Without this GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in line, it is impossible for any manufacturers to come up with quality production and proof to the regulatory agencies and the market of acceptable standards. CCPP is an ideal place for interaction among advanced pharmaceutical companies as well as the CMs industry who are eager to grasp this technological know-how.
GSP
(Good Sales Practices) is by no means vital to the existence and a
smooth transaction of a finished product. CCPP has already lined up
with respective reputable agents in the States who have successfully
introduced CMs products in the general OTC market. All these GXPs are just fundamental requirements for the manufacturing of any pharmaceutics, quality CMs included. What CCPP can do to help the industry to achieve these goals is to bring about a sense of urgency and necessity among the manufacturers that through a collaborative effort we can help make it happen. --- By Dr. Brad Lau Go to: Useful Links to Regulations on TCMs
