Once you have graduated from a degree program from HKUST, you become a member of HKUST alumni community.  Basically, no membership is required to become a HKUST alumnus.  However, if you would like to join a particular alumni group formed by our alumni voluntarily, some groups/associations do charge membership fees.

There is no UST Alumni Card issued by the Development and Alumni Office. Some campus privileges require your alumni email account or the HKUST-BOC Alumni Gold/Titanium/Platinum Credit Card to proof your alumni identity.  Thus, you are enouraged to activate your alumni email account and to apply for the HKUST-BOC Alumni Gold/Titanium/Platinum Credit Card. Click here for details about alumni services and benefits.

DAO stands for Development and Alumni Office. The unit is under the Development and Alumni Office.. While you were a student, you sometimes reached SAO (Student Affairs Office) for various assistance. The Development & Alumni Relations Team (DAO) of the University welcomes alumni to form different alumni groups based on their academic discipline or interest.  There are over 20 alumni groups established.   Normally, the first step of setting an alumni group or association is by gathering a group of interested alumni.

Once your group is formed, DAO may offer an email address and/or a web hosting under www.ust.hk faciliating the communication within the group.

The following may hinder the authentication:

i) Your input details do not match with those of our database. The database may:
- have your middle name
- have old passport number (some countries may change their passport number upon renewal)

ii) You are a non-degree graduate such as executive courses graduates, exchange students. Only degree graduates can enjoy the alumni benefits including alumni email account services.

If you still cannnot activate the account, please send the following to alumni@ust.hk:
1. English full name (as in your HKID/Passport)
2. Date of birth
3. Degree and year of graduation
4. Postal Address
5. Student ID

After checking your details, we will assist you further.

While you activate your alumni email account at http://www.alumni.ust.hk/new_account.php, the system will inform you of your account name. Please keep the information in order to perform account login in future. Should you have forgotten your account details, please click "Forget Password" and the system will guide you through.

i) Visit "My Profile" after logging in AeN at https://www.alumni.ust.hk/index.php.

ii) Visit the "Personal Information" page and enter the designated email account that you want to forward to.

i) Visit "My Profile" after logging in AeN.

ii) Enter your own alias based on the following :
1. No longer than 32 characters
2. Composed of at least one dot "." like john.chan@alumni.ust.hk
3. Only alphanumeric characters are allowed
4. Not currently used by other users

Let's demonstrate the procedures for transfer of email from UST email account to a gmail email account as follows:
i) Log on your gmail account.
ii) Select "Settings".
iii) Click the "Accounts" tab.
iv) Choose "Add another mail account" under the section of "Get mail from other accounts".

v) Enter required information, then click "Add Account".

Note: If you would like to retain the messages in your UST account, click the box "Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server".

viii) Select "No" and Click "Finish".

You may follow similar means to arrange email backup for other commonly used email accounts.

Each alumni email account offered by Alum-e- Nation(AeN) has 10MB storage. Alumni are advised to arrange email forwarding to their personal email accounts which may provide greater storage as required.

Yes. The UST family email account in its nature is an email forwarding account. In fact no email storage will be offered. In activating this account, you have to designate to which account you want to have it forwarded to. The alumni email account could be one of your choices for this purpose. The alumni email account also allows email forwarding. If you have your alumni email account forwarded to your family email account, it will then be diverted to the final forwarding account of your family email account. Graduates of degree programs offered by the University are entitled to alumni benefits including the alumni email account. The benefits coverage has not been expanded to those
1) who had undertaken short courses offered by CL3
2) who had partial courses taken at UST in the capacity of exchange students.
