Do I need to join any kind of membership to become a HKUST Alumnus/Alumna? |
|
Once you have graduated from a degree program from HKUST, you become a member of HKUST alumni community. Basically, no membership is required to become a HKUST alumnus. However, if you would like to join a particular alumni group formed by our alumni voluntarily, some groups/associations do charge membership fees.

Is there a UST Alumni Card? |
|
There is no UST Alumni Card issued by the Development and Alumni Office. Some campus privileges require your alumni email account or the HKUST-BOC Alumni Gold/Titanium/Platinum Credit Card to proof your alumni identity. Thus, you are enouraged to activate your alumni email account and to apply for the HKUST-BOC Alumni Gold/Titanium/Platinum Credit Card. Click here for details about alumni services and benefits.

What is DAO? |
|
DAO stands for Development and Alumni Office. The unit is under the Development and Alumni Office.. While you were a student, you sometimes reached SAO (Student Affairs Office) for various assistance. HKUST Alumni Association (HKUSTAA) is formed by a group of enthusiastic alumni on a voluntary basis. We would like to organize a Reunion. What can DAO help? |
|
DAO can help alumni groups/associations promoting their events by reaching target alumni groups with the database kept by the University. In addition, we can help making venue reservation on campus, promoting their events on HKUST alumni website and more. For further information, please call 2358 6158.

I cannot complete the authenication as a new user. Why? |
The following may hinder the authentication:
i) Your input details do not match with those of our database. The database may:
- have your middle name
- have old passport number (some countries may change their passport number upon renewal)
ii) You are a non-degree graduate such as executive courses graduates, exchange students. Only degree graduates can enjoy the alumni benefits including alumni email account services.
If you still cannnot activate the account, please send the following to alumni@ust.hk:
1. English full name (as in your HKID/Passport)
2. Date of birth
3. Degree and year of graduation
4. Postal Address
5. Student ID
After checking your details, we will assist you further.

How can I set up my alias account? |
i) Visit "My Profile" after logging in AeN.

ii) Enter your own alias based on the following :
1. No longer than 32 characters
2. Composed of at least one dot "." like john.chan@alumni.ust.hk
3. Only alphanumeric characters are allowed
4. Not currently used by other users

As my student email account is about to be expired, do you have any clues for the shortcut methods for email backup? |
Let's demonstrate the procedures for transfer of email from UST email account to a gmail email account as follows:
i) Log on your gmail account.
ii) Select "Settings".
iii) Click the "Accounts" tab.
iv) Choose "Add another mail account" under the section of "Get mail from other accounts".

v) Enter required information, then click "Add Account".


Note: If you would like to retain the messages in your UST account, click the box "Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server".
viii) Select "No" and Click "Finish".

You may follow similar means to arrange email backup for other commonly used email accounts.

Can I access alumni email through iPhone? |
A) Yes.
Simply follow the steps below to set up your iPhone:
1) Choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" from the "Settings" page.

2) Select "Add Account".

3) Select "Other".

4) Choose "Add Mail Account".

5) Fill in your alumni email information.

6) Select IMAP as default and fill in the Incoming Mail & SMTP Server.
Incoming Mail Server: imapa.alumni.ust.hk
SMTP Server: Please refer to your own mobile service provider. Here are some examples:

7) Select "YES" on this screen.

8) Now, you can check your alumni email account with you iPhone.
